Ubisoft Motion Pictures Adapting Ubisoft Games

Further to our exclusive report May 3, 2011, Paris-based video games publisher Ubisoft will launch "Ubisoft Motion Pictures" to adapt their own titles into movies/TV shows, under the supervision of Jean-Julien Baronnet. Titles for adaptation include "Splinter Cell", "Assassin's Creed" and "Ghost Recon".

In a recent survey sent out to gamers, Ubisoft asked about the viability of films based on the Ubisoft video games "Ghost Recon" and "Assassin's Creed".

"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon", a series of military tactical shooter video games created by Red Storm Entertainment, (a studio founded in part by author Clancy), follows a player in charge of a squad of 'US Army Special Forces' operators from 'Company D', 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Sometimes referred to as 'the Ghosts', their role is not unlike other real world special forces, in that their operations are highly classified.

Selling over 20 million units to date, "Assassin's Creed", developed by Ubisoft Montreal, follows bartender 'Desmond Miles' as he is captured by megacorporation 'Abstergo Industries'.

Using a machine known as the 'Animus', Desmond is forced to relive the memories of his ancestors, who were all assassins, in order to recover artifacts, called the 'Pieces of Eden'.
