20th Century Fox reports that its Emmy Award-winning animated television series, "Family Guy", will now develop into an interactive online experience with "Family Guy Online", a free-to-play, browser-based, 3D multiplayer game launching in open beta later this year.
At FamilyGuyOnline.Com, fans can create/customize their own game character, to post on their 'Facebook' page.
Set in a 3D virtual 'Quahog', "Family Guy Online" lets players interact with all the series characters. Users can opt for a single-player experience or team up with other fans as they explore Quahog's well-known landmarks, including 'The Drunken Clam'.
"The 'Family Guy Online' project is an important studio initiative as we further our digital content development and distribution strategy," said Peter Levinsohn, president, New Media and Digital Distribution for Fox Filmed Entertainment.
The game will be hosted on the 'Unity' platform, noted for delivering 3D content for online games. In addition to vibrant graphics, the flexibility of the platform will also allow the game writers/developers to continuously evolve game play and content.
