THE SPORTING LIFE

Sporting equipment and attire go glam of late, which just goes to show you: if you can’t be an athlete, be an athletic supporter!

In this CoutureCarrie post, see how to channel you inner footballer, ice skater, tennis pro, scuba diver, or rugby player!

On the 9 yard line is this adorably sexy pale rose football jersey frock by Marc Jacobs. There is a shorter, tighter version as well, with a # ten on the front. But I like the borrowed-from-the-boys look of this oversize tee dress. It has all the sportiness of a uniform without that pesky locker room stench!

Truly, what fashionista's armoire would be complete without a Chanel football?? (Aside: Chanel has logo-emblazoned bicycles, surfboards, tennis rackets, and myriad other luxe sporting items as well, if that's your thing).

Both Teen VOGUE and I are loving this Topshop Monet pleated floral skater skirt (at right) . It looks particularly fetch with a little tulle tutu underneath, for added volume! Btw, students get 10% off all year at Topshop – stay in school, gals!

I must admit, I snapped up this adorable swimwear-inspired AKA New York minidress the minute it went to 70% off at shopbop.com. It is scandalously short, but I don’t mind! My favorite part about this miniscule frock, other than its shoulder-flattering racerback tank shape, is the exposed black zipper down the center back – Body Glove couture, no? For an even more literal wetsuit look, sport this Etro combination (photo at left courtesy nypost.com).

For a cheeky take on the traditional rugby, try this Autumn Cashmere polo dress, currently on sale at neimanmarcus.com.

And how yes-I’m-wearing-my-tennis-whites-off-the-clay-and-into-the-club-and-what-are-you-gonna-do-about-it are these fab Ralph Lauren Pink Pony Wristbands? Available at ralphlauren.com for a mere ten dollars: promise me you’ll stock up, darlings, even if you don’t fancy a game of tennis.

I am of the mind that, if you really MUST wear shorts (and darlings, no offense, but please only indulge if your gams are glam), they should cost around nine hundred dollars, like these Jade Jagger zigzag beaded shorts, available at net-a-porter.com. Play ball!
