"Call Of Duty: Black Ops" Earns $360 Million In 24 Hours

The first-person shooter video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops", published by Activision Blizzard Inc. and released worldwide November 9, 2010, has set new entertainment records by earning $360 million in its first 24 hours, with Activision reporting 5.6 million units sold.

Developed by Treyarch, "Call of Duty: Black Ops" is playable for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Nintendo DS, immersing players in Cold War-era battles, including 1960's Cuba, Vietnam and the Soviet Union.

One mission, set during the Kennedy presidency in the US White House before the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion and 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, enables players to shoot their way through Havana to assassinate Fidel Castro.

Voice cast includes Sam Worthington as 'Alex Mason', Ed Harris as 'CIA Agent Jason Hudson', Gary Oldman as 'Sergeant Reznov', Ice Cube as 'Corporal Bowman' and Topher Grace as 'Special Agent Harris'.

Meanwhile in California, the US Supreme Court is hearing arguments over a new law that seeks to ban the sale of 'ultra-violent' video games to minors, with parents' groups and politicians saying games should be regulated like firearms and tobacco.
