Universal Plugs Into Xbox LIVE...

Speaking at an official launch event in central London today, UK Head of Xbox Neil Thompson announced a vision for the console giant that will give customers a fresh entertainment experience, thanks to a new agreement with NBC Universal International Television Distribution, who are offering titles in high def to Xbox LIVE, giving customers the chance to rent movies at the touch of a button.

A catalogue of 30 titles includes "The Fast and The Furious"", Wanted", "Incredible Hulk" and "Scarface".

Comedies include "National Lampoon’s Animal House", "Cheech And Chong’s Next Movie" with additional titles to be added on a rolling basis.

Extra gaming content includes "Gears of War 2", "Grand Theft Auto IV", "Fallout 3", "Tomb Raider" and "Fable 2".

In addition to gaming content, Xbox revealed a sneak peek of the '1 vs. 100' – an interactive TV quiz show game offering prizes.

"Having an agreement with NBC Universal not only gives our customers even more choice when they use Xbox LIVE but really seals our position as a major player," said Thompson.

"This also applies to 1 vs. 100’, which, while still in its infancy, signals the next chapter in the Xbox story , set to take home entertainment to a whole new level by putting the consumer in the driving seat of their own TV show..."
