Gonna go BACK in time!
CoutureCarrie is loving backless dresses, and lucky for us, all three of these beauties are currently on sale at Neiman Marcus! Counterclockwise from top, Marc Jacobs chiffon-sleeve silk wrap dress; Rachel Roy jeweled cutout dress (do I detect some side-boob?); Valentino Roma bow-back dress.
HEAD GAMES
The options are limitless for crown adornment these days. While Mary-Kate Olsen was lambasted for wearing the Marc Jacobs Jazzercise-inspired headband pictured above in a recent W Magazine spread, she was ahead of the fashion curve and should be applauded! Below, HEADGEAR REDUX:
HEADBAND: the Stacey Lapidus three-row crystal band (above left) is very Blair Waldorf - try it! Go to http://staceylapidus.com/insideha1.cfm. Couture Carrie also enjoy the SATC-ified the Jane Tran flower/feather version, pictured at left.
THE TIARA: overused by brides, pageant winners, and royalty; underused by the rest of us! Would that we could get our hands on the fabulous pieces worn at the recent Chanel Couture show (runway detail photo at right courtesy style.com)!

I LOVE THE 80s
It’s official . . . they’re baaaaaaack. To jog your memory, see the cinematic wonders of the decade at http://www.fast-rewind.com/. Dress the part with fluorescent socks; Madonna bracelets; Jordache jeans; Vans, jellies, tricked-out Nikes or patent pumps; leg warmers or stirrup pants; Wayfarers; and dangly bright plastic earrings. While the iconic pieces pictured in the collage above are all "vintage", the rest of this post consists entirely of CURRENT fashion trends, all nods to the past but available NOW!
Some famous 80s labels that have recently reinvented themselves include: Lacroix, Halston, and Norma Kamali, and Ossie Clark. Other 80s trends that have been resurrected? Sperry Topsiders; Moon Boots; Tretorns; bodysuits; lanyards; and side ponytails. And don’t forget about Member Only jackets like this delightmare gold version at right, for purchase at traceyross.com !
Don't forget your leggings! Whether they are leopard or lace, like Kova and T's (pictured at right and available at ronherman.com). Apparently Lindsay Lohan, determined to see that her favorite clothing item remains on the radar, has jumped on the legging-design bandwagon (though I have yet to see her creations in any store). Rad!

An undeniably retro look by Enrico Coveri (photo at right taken from Italian Vogue’s coverage of the fall runway shows in Milan) is the modern embodiment of the 80s bright minidress, tights and booties trend. Awesome!
Ra Creations reminds us simultaneously of feather-trim roach clips and friendship bracelets with this Marykate peacock hair clip, for purchase at shopbop.com. Dope!

Of course, we all know how to channel the 80s with some fab retro sneakers. But how to go dressy, you ask? Darlings, fear not: the deliciously decadent footwear for Fall 2008 will keep you right in step with the Wall Street crew.
Just check out these fluorescent pink Emilio Pucci patent leather lace-up boots (at right).
Or, even more tragically hip, Christian Louboutin's ridiculously patterned leather and suede high-heel boots (at left). Both photos via style.com. Bitchin'!
I totally did a Jane Fonda double-take when I saw this photo of a performance by Girls Aloud at dailymail.com/uk. Holy leotards, Batman!

Who Are The Big Mac Chant Winners?
Big Mac Chant.
“Two All-Beef Patties,
Special Sauce, Lettuce,
Cheese, Pickles, Onions
On A Sesame Seed Bun!”
“Two All-Beef Patties,
Special Sauce, Lettuce,
Cheese, Pickles, Onions
On A Sesame Seed Bun!”
(read this in 4 second and you'll get a free BIg Mac in McD outlet)
Most of the Nuffnangers in Malaysia are competing for RM 10,000 since in the beginning of May. It was organized by Mc Donald and Nuffnang and now, the video submission and voting session are closed. Yes. It's over and now they are looking for the winner!
Before this, I'd planned to enter this video competition. However, I gave up. Why? Firstly, I don't eat beef. I'm a Buddhist and ever since I was an infant, I don't take beef till now. (accept milk..lol..) If I want to make a video which requires me to show how tasty the 2-all-beef patties is, I know I will fail. Hahaha....
Secondly, I'm bad in tongue twister. Chanting for the whole phrase within 4 seconds in front of the camera will kill me immediately. And... You don't wanna see how dumb Curryegg looks like, right? Lol.. ;D
Finally, I'm not as productive as THEM... They are so supercalifragislisticexpealidociously (learn from Joshuaun) creative! Darn! How will I ever compete with them in video editing, acting skills, charming looks, creative idea and etc etc etc? Lol..
So, rather than crashing my head into pieces looking for ideas, I prefer waiting for their products and happily enjoying their works right now. Oh ya, and I can blog about them! Hehe... *goyang-kaki*
While browsing from page to page in the website for videos, I've finally picked out my Top 13 (trying to make it top 10 but I failed to eliminate them) video clips which I think they're worth to be shared. I just simply adore these video clips...
Have a look.

This is one of the most craziest idea from Kennysia. Lol.. Watch this or you will miss Osama hunting for burger.

This is my favourite romantic video clip. Ahwww.... I love this! It looks so real.. However, the votes are not as much as others. Anyway, you're in Top 1 in Curryegg.Com. Lol.. Wish you all the best!

I shall say:
"Well done to all of you for all the effort you've put in. You've really done a great job! Bravo!!". We (Malaysian) shall never look down on our ability because... Malaysia Boleh! (Malaysia Can) Haha...
All the best for the result, Nuffnangers! I feel like wanting to know the result right now. Who will win? Who is the winner of the RM10,000? Who? Who? Who?
Oohhh... Tell me!
SURRY WITH THE FRINGE ON TOP
ADORNMENT, FLAPPER-STYLE
From gowns to handbags, fashion is on the fringe! The most fanciful (and doubtless, expensive) takes on the trend were those sashayed down the runway for Bill Blass's Fall 2008 Collection. The dalmatian-spotted mini-dress (left) and frilly black-fringed white gown (above) are show-stoppers! Photos via nymag.com.
A more achievable way to wear the trend? This sexy Elizabeth and James French lace minidress, for purchase at Neiman Marcus. Scandalous!
If you dare not don the fringed dress, you can carry the look with an adorable clutch. I am absolutely smitten with this silver Easter-grass strewn Roger Vivier Exotica bag, featured in style.com's coverage of accessories for Fall 2008. Even more fanciful, with a splash of teal, is Salvatore Ferragamo's tiered mesh fringe frame bag with resin barrel closure. Handbag pictures courtesy style.com. Now shake it like a Polaroid picture!
RUFFLES HAVE RIDGES
Ah, the frippery of the tuxedo shirt!
Luckily, it has been softened in recent seasons, as evinced by this delicate silver Etro ruffled silk blouse, for purchase at bergdorfgoodman.com. Perfect under a fitted blazer!
But the ruffle is not limited to blouses! I adore the bold persimmon-hued Valentino Roma mini-frock pictured at the top of this post. It has a delicate keyhole detail in back. The frilling (ha!) news? It's on sale at neimanmarcus.com!
Check out this kicky Moschino Cheap & Chic white ruffle front sleeveless a-line dress (currently fifty percent off at shopbop.com).
Not sure which came first, but it looks curiously similar to Albino's zipper-front leather version, which Couture Carrie discovered while perusing Italian Vogue online.
If you need something a bit fancier, try Valentino’s lovely ruffle and jewel-adorned gown for Resort 2009 (photo at right via style.com).

Whippin's (Bring Back The Belt!)
I've recently had cause to reflect on my childhood. The thing that stands out most in my mind were the butt whippin's.
My step-dad had old school country values. I'm not sure exactly what that means but it translated into plenty of the long drawn out old school tanning of one's backside. Didn't... I.... tell... you... too... stop... (fill in the blank).
*Hot Wheel tracks - they don't really hurt much. They're really not flexible enough.
*The big wooden spoon hanging on the dining room wall- they are too stiff and the pain doesn't really linger.
*The traditional switch (which one had to pick and de-leaf one's self)- they sting more than they hurt.
*Extension cords- probably the second best tool as far as efficacy.
*The strap one uses to sharpen a straight razor- now we're talking. This was the tool of choice. Hung on the bottom loop of my parents' staircase, it was a constant reminder of our fate if we were to mis-step on the tightrope my parents called discipline. We were whipped so often and so badly that we thought Kunta Kinte was a sissy. Denzel's character in "Glory"? Ne...ga...ro, please! After a while they became ineffective and something to be avoided but not necessarily feared.
Once (I must have been about six years old), Donny -my best friend at the time- and I stole little cowboys and Indians and those little green army men from a T.G.&Y. I had told my mom that his mom bought them for us, while he was to tell his mom that my mom bought them for us. This was our "master plan". We never thought that our mothers would call to thank each other for the "gift". His mother called us into her home (You know that feeling of foreboding - when something is wrong but you're not exactly sure what? This was one of those moments) to whip us. She then sent us to my house to get a second whipping. We then had to go back to his house and wait for his father to come home. A third whipping took place. We then had to go to my house. This was the forth plague of the Apocalypse. We cried the whole hour and seventeen minute wait. This whippin' would have made "masta' " proud. One crime - four whippings. My step-dad said: "I bet you won't steal again". "I won't get caught again", I whimpered, under my breath.
The most effective beating I received was from the neighbor across the street. I was playing with the children of the house that morning. I had skipped breakfast, in order to fit in as much play time into the day as possible. Being hungry, I reached around the corner and was stealing strips of bacon from the counter top. Pinky (the children's mother) watched as one piece went missing after another. After the third or fourth piece was taken, Pinky grabbed my hand. She whipped me. Back in those days, the neighbors could (and did) whip any child deserving to be whipped. Afterwards she made me sit down to eat breakfast. She told me that she would feed me if I was hungry but never to steal what someone would give to me. I remember this whippin' well. Not only was I punished, I was taught and corrected. To this day, I still kind of flinch when I see Pinky.
In dealing with all of these bad little "niglets", I have one thing to say. Bring back the belt!

That's a seahorse of a different color!
Cutesy stuff like this kinda makes CoutureCarrie nauseous, but for those who want to channel a little prepitude without wearing Lilly Pulitzer, here are some adorable seahorse clothes and accessories . . .
Clockwise, from top left: Letarte seahorse bikini, at figleaves.com; Seaton tee, at shopbop.com; J. Crew bead necklace, at jcrew.com; Giles & Brother stud earrings, on sale at shopbop; Eva Franco navy tank dress, at shopstyle.com.

Accessories for fall, which are reviewed and photographed extensively at style.com, are gleaming the CUBE!
DIY ASYMMETRICAL LOOKS
It's sew time!
The Resort 2009 collections proved that the one-shoulder look is still alive and well.
What better way to channel this lovely, seasonally appropriate and utterly chic look (as evoked at both Oscar de la Renta, top left, and Calvin Klein, bottom left) than by re-creating it yourself at a fraction of the cost?
If you have any sewing skills whatsoever, simply purchase VOGUE Pattern V8387 and fashion your own frock! Go to: http://www.voguepatterns.com/list/dresses

SATC Roundup
I feel a sort of moral obligation to critique my iconic (albeit fictional) namesake's fashion choices . . .
While we mere [stateside] mortals will have to wait until tomorrow to witness the resurrection of HBO’s wildly popular TV series on the big screen, fashion insiders have already shopped the pun-laden, Manolo-filled Carrie Collection.
WWD gave the film’s fashion a lukewarm review on Friday, citing Carrie’s schizophrenic style: “For half of the film she comes off as a polished, uberfashionable grown-up; the other half, she's the quirky, experimental fashion trailblazer/victim.”
Indeed, the pictures tell the same story. The former failings are embodied in the pajamas, white booties and oversize fur getup donned by the main character in the snowy scene pictured at the left. The latter version (and the Carrie many gals aspire to emulate) is encapsulated by the chic black and fun floral ensembles shown opposite the fashion disaster.
For the full WWD article, go to: http://wwd.com/issue/article/125153?page=0. Photos: James Devaney/WIREIMAGE. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and add my own to the mix . . . just one more day!

Flooded With Books
Books!
Boookkssss!
Boooookkkksssssss!
Boooooooookkkkssssssss!!
Did I ever tell you I love reading books? Ever since I was a child, I love books. Of course, I don't mean story books because I didn't know how to read. Unfortunately, my parents were working very hard in pursuit our financial needs. So, I rarely being taught to read like any other kids. *sob*
Anyway, I still love books.
As you can see, my choices of books are changing over the age. I guess it's because of the environment and my own development has changed the way I choose the type of book I read. Did this happen to you too?
As for now, I love Chick Lit and motivation books. I've a great passion in reading these kind of books. It stimulates my hormone(adrenaline, endorphine or oxytocin) unconsciously! Haha.. I will feel greatly in love and motivated once I've finished the books. Ohh... I need books right now!
Lucky to know that Popular is organizing another BookFest in KL Convention,KLCC, Kuala Lumpur and I'd done my shopping few days ago! (That's why I'm late to update my blog yesterday, sorry...)
These are the books I'd bought! Ohhhh... I'm so deeply in love with them..
"Honey, mama is here blogging about all of you.."
There are 9 books all together and I still feel like buying another 2 books: The Secret and Confession Of A Shopaholic. Both of these are real good books especially The Secret (Most of the people were purchasing this book!) Sigh... I'm running out of budget which has caused me to return the two great books on the shelves. Sob.. Don't worry, I will get you next time.. Promise.
Anyway, I don't have to worry because I've these 5 best-seller books with me. Hehehe.. *evil laugh*
"P.S. I Love You" from Cecilia Ahern and "Shopaholic & Baby" from Sophie Kinsella are the novels which I'm dying to own. They have caught my attention when I came across with a magazine. The editor has made a review on these books and I'm eager to get them straight away once I was in the book fair. Yes!!!
And they are cheap! RM 23.90 each.
Isn't that CHEAPP!!!!
Next, my favourite author, John Gray who is very famous with his first book: "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus". I like his findings and suggestions on how to get a desirable relationship with your love one. He's using Humanist approach as well in psychology.
I should say, this is a MUST HAVE book especially you're in a relationship. There are infinite problems which you will face when you're in a relationship like mistrust, misunderstanding, dishonest and etc. These problems will often lead to arguments, quarrels and fighting. His book will show you the secret of building a healthy and loving relationship with your partner by showing the differences between men and women and providing some useful tips for good communication with your partner.
This "Why Mars & Venus Collide" is his new book and I've bought it! Yes yes!
Besides John Gray, Tony Buzan is my 'guru' in helping me to develop my cognitive thinking. He's the founder of Mind Mapping. OMG! I love him so much. Last May, Tony Buzan came to Malaysia and was given a workshop in Taylor College, KL. I had the intention to go but.... RM2,000 is really killing me! @_@
Oh my. Sob.. No picture or signature with my idol. Sigh...
I could only effort to buy his book after doing some monthly saving.
Lately, I'm interested in business. I don't know why but I'm interested to know slightly about this field. Maybe it's because of I need money desperately which will slowly change my choices of books.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
So this "Why You Want To Be Rich" from Donal K. Trump (The founder of Apprentice) and Robert T. Kiyosaki has caught my attention to grab that book hurriedly without thinking twice. The book cover with the attracting title and 2 famous faces has paralyzed my rational thinking. I know I don't need the book but I'm curious to know these billionaire's and millionaire's secret (and I'm reading it now! Lol..)
When I was about the leave the fair, my eyes was caught by these chick lit novels. Look at the titile and the cover. They are so attractive.
And the most attractive thing is...
This offer. Buy 3 for 2!
That's mean if you buy 3 books, they will charge your for 2 books.
And each book just cost for RM 19.90. It's quite thick! Ohhh... my... Immediately, I grabbed 3 of the most attractive novels and headed for the counter. I know I must own these books! Haha...
Somehow, my attempt to pay for the books was failed, again when I passed by a book, "Happiness" by Joan Duncan Oliver. I don't know why but I'm interested with the title. Happiness. Lately, I'm kinda stress with my family and I wish to get a motivation book to help myself. I know the book will help me by just flipping a few pages.
The inspiring words, the colourful pages and beautiful design have turned my negative feeling into positive one. Amazing! As I always believe that right words, cheerful colour and creative design will affect one's mood and I'm right! They did influence me.
And wait a minute. It's just RM 13.70 for the book (after discount)? Isn't that worth it? It's darn CHEAP!!!
*Put it on the basket and run to the counter!*
As a result, I'd spend hundreds of ringgit on these wonderful books and I'm going to continue my reading. I wanna be a book-worm for weeks! Hahaha...
P/s: Oh ya, before I left the place, there was a free seminar, given by a young guy, Arthur Tan. It's about how to be a billionaire talk. Oh my. I missed that because I needed to rush back (to avoid KL traffic jam. Sigh..)
However, I managed to snap some photos of him. He's from Malaysia (Thank Lynnz for your information)
He's handsome! Lol..
He was selling his book at the same time. What a real Businessman!
;)
