The first "Silent Hill" feature, released in 2006, was directed by Christophe Gans ("Brotherhood Of The Wolf"), adapting the "Silent Hill" series of 'survival horror' video games created by Konami.
That film was lensed in both Brantford and Hamilton, Ontario as well as on soundstages in Toronto and on location @ Alma College.
"Silent Hill is not a blockbuster game like 'Resident Evil' or the other games out there," said producer Carmody. "It's a connoisseurs' game. It has its own, rabid fan base. They're not cheap, these things. You have to appeal not only to the gamers, you have to appeal to a wider audience."
According to Carmody the new film is set 'years later' from the original, with the main character 'much older', following 'Heather Mason' who starts having nightmares that lead her to 'Silent Hill' and the mystery of her father's disappearance.
