McFarlane Designs "Prince Of Persia" Action Figures

Sneak Peek the new action figure designs, pending licensor approval, supporting the film "Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time", designed by Canada's Todd McFarlane for Calgary-based McFarlane Toys.

Limited edition figures include hero 'Dastan' accompanied by his 'loyal steed' 'Aksh'.

Available May 2010, each figure includes character-specific accessories, based on the upcoming film that adapts the "Prince Of Persia" video games. Figures include 'Dastan' (Warrior Gear), 'Dastan' (Desert Gear), 'Zolm' (Lead Assassin) and 'Setam' (Porcupine Assassin).

Writer/illustrator/toy designer McFarlane, best known for his "Spawn" character that launched a trend in creator-owned comic book properties, continues to focus on a new "Spawn" live-action, 3D feature through his film/animation studio Todd McFarlane Entertainment.

The Walt Disney Pictures/Bruckheimer Films production, "Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time" adapts Ubisoft's "Prince of Persia".

Created in 1989 for the Apple II by creator Jordan Mechner, the original game pioneered a unique rotoscoping process for authenticity of movement during the animated sword-play.

Following it's release, "Prince of Persia" was ported to Amiga, Apple Macintosh, DOS, NES, Game Boy, Game Gear, SNES, Sharp X68000, Atari ST, Sam Coupe and Sega Mega Drive Genesis.

In "Sands Of Time", actor Jake "Brokeback Mountain" Gyllenhaal co-stars with actress Gemma "Quantum Of Solace" Arterton.

Production lensed in Morocco and London, with Mike "Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire" Newell directing from a screenplay by Mechner, Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard and Boaz Yakin.

Premise of the movie follows 'Dastan' (Gyllenhaal), a prince in sixth-century Persia who joins forces with 'Tamina' (Arterton), an exotic princess, to prevent a villain from possessing the 'Sands of Time', a gift from the gods that can allow its possessor to rule the world.

The film will be released May 2010.
