More than a generation ago, Marvin Gaye asked; "What's going on?"
But the answer then, as now, is stress.

In times of peace and comfort - most people tend to let the little things go.
But when humans feel stressed, many revert to more primal behaviors.
If today's conditions can lead a grandmother to start robbing banks, or usually peaceful citizens to go on shooting sprees, or men to kill their families and themselves - how much worse can it be for those who are doomed to live their entire lives under such conditions (such as those in trailer parks, ghettos and barrios across America) without any hope for for escape?
It is said that this is a Christian nation.
But if this were true, wouldn't we follow the teachings of Christ more closely?
Wouldn't our financial and material concerns become secondary to our concerns for humanity?
And if we were to care more for each other than our finances or material possessions - would we still be as stressed?
And if we were less stressed - how many of our physical maladies could we eliminate?
Since we tend to worry about that which is not really important - WE may be causing our problems (and the side effects of those problems) to become even worse.
