"Largo Winch" the Belgian comic book series was created by Philippe Francq and Jean Van Hamme, published by Dupuis. The principal character is 'Largo Winch' (aka 'Largo Winczlav'). Other important characters include 'Nerio Winch' (his adoptive father), senior 'Group W' executives 'John D. Sullivan', 'Dwight E. Cochrane' and his friend 'Simon Ovronnaz'.
"Largo Winch" started as a series of novels by illustrator Jean Van Hamme in the late 1970's, who then reworked the novels into the first comic book series with writer Phillipe Francq, appearing originally in French, then translated into various languages, including Danish, Dutch, English, German, Portuguese, Serbian and Spanish.
"Largo Winch" is among the most popular comics books in France, with annual sales of nearly 500,000 copies, also spawning a previous feature, TV series and video games.
"Largo Winch II" will have a limited European release February 16, 2011.
