The Toronto-shot "Max Payne" feature starring Mark Wahlberg, is the latest attempt at adapting a best-selling videogame for the big screen.
Other features in development/or prepping production starts are Sony Pictures' "Metal Gear Solid," Universal's "God of War" and Disney's "Prince of Persia".
"Max Payne" is the second recent videogame adaptation by 20th Century Fox, which had success last year with the $100 million earner "Hitman."
Fox is also developing films based on Electronic Arts PC game "The Sims" and Capcom/Hyde Park Entertainment's "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li"...
Capcom has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures to adapt the spacey action game "Lost Planet" with a screenplay by David "X-Men" Hayter, while Arad Productions is developing Sony Online Entertainment's "EverQuest," Sony Computer Entertainment America's "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune," BioWare's "Mass Effect" and Namco Bandai's "Pac-Man" into feature films...
