Ubisoft Plugs Into Quebec Expoansion


Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, has announced a new phase in its Quebec operations.

With more than 1,600 employees in the province, Ubisoft will invest up to $450 million over the next six years, building up a team of 3,000 by 2013. In addition, the company will inaugurate a new production center, specializing in digital cinema content, for computer generated images (CGI).

The first eight-minute short film will be based on Ubisoft's award-winning "Assassin’s Creed".

The announcement was made by Yves Guillemot, Chief Executive Officer and Co- Founder of Ubisoft and Yannis Mallat, Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft’s Montreal studio, in the presence of Jean Charest, Premier of Quebec, the Honorable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Canadian Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, Raymond Bachand, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Michelle Courchesne, Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity and Gérald Tremblay, Mayor of Montreal.
